Online Dental Nurse Course - Enrol Anytime
The NEBDN level 3 dental nursing diploma from Dental Nurse Courses will provide you with the formal dental nursing qualification allowing you to register with the General Dental Council (GDC) in the UK or the Irish Dental Council (IDC) in Ireland. It is online based and as such you should have familiarity working with computers and be able to read, understand and write English.
This course will run for 12-18 months and consists of four main stages. Stage 1 and 2 are completed throughout and you are entered for your exams at the end of the theory course.

A. 44 Practical Experience Records (PERS) - small write up on things like assisting with a cavity preparation or disinfecting impression materials
B. 22 supplementary outcomes (SO) - includes things like questions about setting up radiographic films or completing a lab prescription.
Course outline
- Theory course - Monthly modules x 12 - This is an online, tutor supported theory course that runs for 12 months. one module is completed per month and signed off by your personal tutor (FAST TRACK OPTION MAY BE AVAILABLE ON REQUEST). Each module consists of a mixture of text, videos, tutorials and a variation of assessments and quizzes for that TOPIC. This culminates in the Mock exams for both the Written and the OSCE before you proceed to the real exams.
- Record of Experience - This is where you record and write up the different procedures that you complete as a trainee dental nurse. This is completed throughout the year alongside the theory course and is completed online on a different platform to the theory course. (see below for what is involved)
- Written exam - 2 hours - half multiple choice questions (MCQs) and half extended matching questions (EMQ's)
- Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)- 1 hour - Zoom based scenario exam consisting of OSCE stations such as identifying instruments.

1. Your practice needs to support you, you will have one main person in your practice that will act as your MENTOR and WITNESS.
2. Each Witness and mentor should familiarise themselves with the WITNESS TOOLKIT, DOWNLOADABLE HERE, to ensure they know what is required of them during the course.
3. Prior to starting the course, each nurse will have a fitness to practice assessment carried out by the tutor to ensure you are suitable to undertake this course.
